Editorial Review

The One Minute Manager's symbol—a one-minute readout from the face of a modern digital watch—is intended to remind each of us to take a minute out of our day to look into the faces of the people we manage. And to realize that they are our most important resources. The Monkey Manager's symbol—a harried manager overwhelmed by a desk full of problems—is intended to remind us to constantly discipline ourselves to invest our time on the most vital aspects of management rather than dilute our effectiveness by doing more efficiently those things that shouldn't be done in the first place .

Book Reviews

"The book is not a challenging read and is not heavy on theory, but it is excellent when it comes to describing how to deal with every-day problems, its relaxed and fun approach makes it a feel good (and quick) read. It may alter your entire perception of what it entails being a manager and ultimately may create a better working atmosphere at work!" Jonesci

"Blanchard partnered with William Onchen to write the One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey. Onchen was an expert on management time, and had authored his own book entitled Managing Management Time. Together, Blanchard and Onchen collaborated to write about how managers could be more effective if they learned the art of delegation and supervision of routine tasks." EzineArticles.com

I came to realize that when people throughout the organization have responsibility for managing their own monkeys, it's hard to tell who's a worker and who's a manager because everyone is committed to doing what it takes to do the best job possible.

It would be foolish to delegate to someone without reasonable assurance that he/she can get sufficient resources—information, time, money, people, assistance and authority—to do the work.

The One Minute Manager is a concise, easily read story that reveals three very practical secrets: One Minute Goal, One Minute Praisings, and One Minute Reprimands. The book also presents several studies that clearly explain why these apparently simple methods work so well with so many people. By the book’s end,
